Most of mine don't do this except once in a great while, except my Snowy who is kinda
bad about it. With him, I think it's excitement. He gets more excited than anybody
about being played with, it's really funny. I get the lid off and boom, he's hanging
from the rim waiting for me to grab him, or sometimes he jumps high enough he actually
lands on me! Left shoulder *sniff sniff*, right shoulder *sniff sniff, grind teeth at
other gerbil smell*, right ear *sniff
sniff contemplate nibbling*, top of the head, back down to the shoulder, try to tiptoe
down the back, run back up when hollered at, dig in the hair or chase the ponytail
depending on my hairstyle, then start all over again. He's so eager sometimes he
jumps before I get the lid off and bonks his head on the lid! He's a character. :)
