Hi list, Recently Cairo, my little DEH male learned how to climb on top of the wheel and gnaw it that way. Actually, he first scooted his darling little butt over the wheel and out the tank (I leave the lid off when I'm in the same room -- walk over and handle them whenever I pass) Luckily, he was only on the dresser where the tank sits on. Now the wheel hangs from the top of the aquarium.. the aquarium is fairly tall -- they have to hop 5 inches to get into the wheel. There's maybe half an inch, to an inch between the wheel and the lid. Anything I can do, short of taking out the wheel? I'm scared Cairo will fall and hurt himself or something. Or get sick ingesting all that tape. The wheel is a wire wheel, taped over with a layer of paper towels and plenty of clear-type, office tape. It's enclosed except for the front.
