I suspect that you are expecting the IDE to show a difference
immediately when you change the Project>Build Settings>Language.
The change doesn't show in the IDE with such a change. I suspect it
depends on the system default language instead.
But once you do a build (or a Run) the correct value will be used.
Let me know if this is not enough.
