Very well. The linked article is also a year old and LLM usage has increased considerably in the intervening period, so it doesn't make an irrefutable point. But I'm not using it to justify any course of action on the part of GHC leadership! By contrast, I interpreted Tom amindfv---'s comment in the message I replied to as suggesting that some people think the energy and water use of LLMs is sufficiently high that LLM-based development *should be* forbidden in GHC. If that's really so then I think they should substantiate that with some hard numbers. (I may have misunderstood Tom amindfv---, of course. Maybe he really was simply saying that it would be nice to show empathy to people's fears even if they are expressed without substantiation. But of course then that shouldn't affect the substance of the policy.)
