I am working on the physical `CaseExpr::return_field` metadata drop as a separate follow-up to #26145 (logical CASE) and #24865 (conditional functions). I will keep normal unmarked CASE planning on a fast path, leave evaluation unchanged, and test both physical field inference and the extension-aware SQL/UDF path.
