Christians setup instructions still hold, but some details need to be adjusted when following the instructions. For instance, the version numbers for activemq and mysql in the cookbook are slightly outdated.

When you get to snags like this the most straightforward thing is to check if there have been version number changes for the package in question, possibly discontinuing the version of the package you are trying to install. Examples:

Mysql:
apt-get install -y mysql-client-5.1 mysql-server-5.1 libmysqlclient-dev

ActiveMQ:
http://mirrors.powertech.no/www.apache.org/dist/activemq/apache-activemq/5.4.3/apache-activemq-5.4.3-bin.tar.gz

Christians setup instructions should still be fairly up to date and
workable for Ubuntu. That said, setting up Gitorious is still somewhat
complicated and most people run into a snag or two along the way. Which
issues did you run into?

Hi Thomas,
Thanks for your quick response. I tried to install Gitorious on Ubuntu
using Oracle VM (on Windows 7 ) following the article on setting up
Gitorious on Ubuntu from cjohansen.no at
http://cjohansen.no/en/ruby/setting_up_gitorious_on_your_own_server.
While installing the required libraries I am facing issues . Is there
any other guide or build script which could install all the libraries
and gems in a group at one go. Also if there is any other article
apart from the one I mentioned, please provide me the reference.
Thanks
Mahima

Mahima,
if you need to run Gitorious on a windows system you should probably look
into running it inside a VirtualBox guest VM, using a linux distro where
you can follow one of the existing scripts or installation descriptions.
To my knowledge there is no straightforward way to run Gitorious directly
on Windows, given the number of Unix components that Gitorious relies on.
Might be possible to get it up using Cygwin but you are probably on your
own if you go that route - sorry.
cheers,

Hi ,
I am new to Gitorious. I want to install the Gitorious Open source
project locally on my machine running Windows 7 Operating system.
Please let me know if it is possible to locally run the Gitorious
project on Windows 7. Also please update me if there is document or
article on how to setup Gitorious project locally on Windows 7.
Thanks
