Re. the office in San Rafael, CA: I am from the east coast of the USA, have never visited their CA office of course. Just called the 800 number. I assume this 800 number is still working. Perhaps they decided to do direct shipping from Hong Kong after problems with the US Customs getting a big lot of prescription glasses? This way it is individually shipped to addresses directly. There is another vendor in HK which also ships directly from HK to the USA I think Cheers!
