Question: Unless I'm reading this wrong:

"My prescription is -2.50 plus cyl -0.75 70 in one eye and -4.25 plus
cyl -0.25 180 in the other."

it appears that you are near-sighted and have single vision lenses. If
so, why are you using your glasses to read with?

I'm going to suggest Zenni Optical. Their lenses are a polycarbonate
composite with a 1.57 index. That means their Abbe value is probably
around 40 or so. Not what you are looking for. You may get chromatic
abberation, but you might not. Or it would be an amount that you could
live with.

The thing about Zenni is that you could find out if their glasses will
work for you for less than $15. You should be able to get a single
vision lens with A/R coating in an inexpensive frame for less than
$30, shipping included. If they don't work you return them and get 50%
of you purchase price returned to you. (Shipping costs less than
$2.00.) If they are OK but not perfect, you have a cheap backup set.

No matter what, and this advice goes for anyone looking to buy new
glasses, get an fresh eye exam before you order. I suspect that is why
your old glasses give you headaches--they no longer match your current
prescription.

I bought glasses in September 2007 and by May 2008 my eyes had
changed. I got a new eye exam and bought new glasses (Zenni) in May.
Perfect vision was restored. Now I've noticed that distant freeway
signs are not as crystal sharp as they used to be. I'm probably going
to get another eye exam and buy more glasses. With Zenni, I can get
progressives for less than $50, and the eye exam is $40. So for less
than $100 I can have perfect vision again.

Right now, my sister is looking for glasses. She had a prescription
from May 2008. I urged her to get a new prescription. She doubted her
eyes had changed but since her workplace reimburses for eye exams, she
had one done. Her eyes had changed--by 0.50 in one eye and 0.75 in the
other eye. Her add value had also changed. People, get up-to-the
minute prescriptions before you order ANY glasses, online or
otherwise.
