Chuck, Your "social engineering" script for requesting the prescription from the doctor's office is great. That ought to go into the FAQ page for this forum. Opps, there is no FAQ (that I can find) so maybe there should be one. :-)
I would add to your script that it is a US Federal law that doctors MUST provide a copy of the prescription -- as the "if all else fails" option. I think I found this on Ira's blog but can't remember where. FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION PART 456--OPHTHALMIC PRACTICE RULES-- Sec. 456.2 Separation of examination and dispensing. It is an unfair act or practice for an ophthalmologist or optometrist to: (a) Fail to provide to the patient one copy of the patient's prescription immediately after the eye examination is completed.
