As several of you pointed our some weeks ago, a new company called Clearly Lenz sent us (all???) an e-mail offering their services. As many have pointed out here, I also find rather questionable and generally distrust these unsolicited mails and so called “direct marketing techniques”, but nevertheless I took a look at their web (really VERY slow – Great Firewall of China as Zeno suggested?). There I found a model I really liked of sunglasses called Corkscrew. Most merchants don’t offer real sunglasses but simply regular glasses with dark lenses. And if they do offer real sunglasses they only fit extremely light prescriptions. I sent and e-mail to Clearly Lenz to see if they would recommend that model for my -2.5 sph and -2.25 cyl and they responded in a few hours stating that it could be done, no problem. At $90 they were rather cheap (particularly since they would fit polarized lenses) so I decided to go for them. Glasses have just arrived and they are really very good. Lenses are perfectly fitted on the frame (something I have had bad experiences with wraparound prescriptions sunglasses before) and look precisely as I had imagined. They are real sunglasses. I must say that I haven’t had much chance to try them since it has been raining heavily ever since I received the glasses.- All along Clearly Lenz was very polite and responsive, sending mails to confirm receipt of payment, work in process, estimated order completion date and glasses mailed. I ordered the glasses on Feb. 17 but paid them on Feb 19 through direct transfer via Paypal. Glasses arrived on March 3 to Buenos Aires, Argentina where I live. There was a bit of a problem with payment, apparently because their web only works well with Internet Explorer and I regularly use Firefox. That is why I had to pay through direct Paypal transfer, a couple of days after I had placed the order.- Another good experience buying glasses on line. Mainly thanks to this blog. Thanks again Ira.- Greetings.- GG
P.S.. Along with the glasses they sent a small no battery, hand- operated 3-led flashlight (and a screwdriver). Also, a note which stated the flashlight was a gift. The note is addressed at Coquitlam B.C. Canada (?) P.S.1: Same day I ordered 2 very simple pairs of glasses from Zenni. No problem with payment there, but I am still waiting for the glasses to be delivered… GG --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Check us out at the oft-updated http://www.glassyeyes.com!
