Hi all, fribidi2 works fine, i made it tonight, it seems to be a cleaner and easier solution but the bad news that i built it using a CVS version, i'll do more search to figure out the its state. it solves both RTL and character shaping, now we have 2 solution
1 - SDL_Pango have trouble with MAC. 2 - fribidi2 not released yet. 2 good solution here is the version i used :pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/cvs/fribidi co fribidi2 Best regards, Ahmed Sayed ----- Original Message ---- From: Dave Vasilevsky <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Globulation2 development mailing list <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, January 5, 2007 6:15:04 AM Subject: Re: [glob2-devel] Add more language support #16391 On 1/4/07, Stéphane Magnenat <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Having different subsystems for different plateforms does not sound very > maintainable to me. Yeah, that's understood. If we go this path, I'd want to establish a pretty small API for text-drawing-systems. The only operations we seem to need are: - Init/cleanup the font system - Load a font - Draw styled text as a DrawableSurface We could then have each implementation in separate files, lessening the chances of accidental breakage. Before doing anything though, we should probably talk to the SDL_Pango maintainers and find out what they think! I'm sure they have ideas for the best way to get text working on multiple OSes.
