Hi Jim,
I am computer science engineer in france at ensimag (computer science
engineer school at grenoble).
I made the choice of glpi this week.
This solution is great !
I have the same problem like you : mac address. For the moment i put mac
address in commentaries.
Other thing : the model for computers is great, it should be available
for monitors and others !
I will echange our experiences with pleasure.
Read you soon

Bon Jour (Bon Soir?),
Mon français ? C'est pathétique. Donc je ne tente pas de continuer en
français. Peut-être un petit freetranslation.com à la fin. ...
I found GLPI after looking at another project (perhaps the project
from which it forked?).
Overall, GLPI is very close to the inventory system I need to use, and
the newest version looks very good (Merci!)
To really work in my situation, though, I need to make some
modifications. I am posting to the GLPI list to see if these are
changes/features that other GLPI users want or have requested. I
started to search the archives, but.....mon francaise!
- I need to add named interfaces and MAC addresses and do so in a
many-to-one fashion so I can handle multiple physical/logical
interfaces per machine. Likewise, multiple, many-to-one IPs.
- I will need to add a lot more detail to the software table relating
to licenses, expiration/renewal and serial numbers and keys. I also
need to add a table-driven "computer" field -- the computer where that
software/license is installed.
I am no expert on any of this -- using PHP to display many-to-one
information (should just be a simple loop through the related table)
or on how to implement table-driven list boxes (but I see some in GLPI
I can copy!). One decision is whether I take GLPI away, change it,
and never come back (this application would be internal use only) or
do I try to bring back changes? I am not so good at the PHP part that
I feel like I can contribute, but perhaps I can surprise myself!
Jim
Oh, and how does Freetranslation.com perform. Is "fork" a verb in French?
