> 1. What exactly is the difference between a globalized license, a free
license and an unglobalized license? When OCS imports software it is
all getting a globalized license by default. In order to assign a

free and global license are quite the same one.
This is only the title which is modifying. These two licences type
correspond to license whithout need to buy individual licenses.

have not figured out how to convert a globalized license to free.

This is not really easy for now. Keep global licenses imported by OCS
instead of wanted to convert them to free.

> I'm also finding that when I first unglobalize a license the number of
installs remaining seems to be being determined randomly, how is the
default for the remaining installs derived?

When you un globalized licenses remaining may be 0.
An individual license is created for each computer lik to the global license.

> A. As a follow up to the above question, we had one case where we
unglobalized a license, and the unglobalized license turned into two
different line items. Both defaulted to 100 installs, and they each
seemed to count towards the total. In each case the serial number was
"_global_"

really strange.

Licenses and Software management of GLPI need to be improved. We know that
some fetaures are needed for this part. This is a big part of the
developpement for a future version.

we must make the sorting in all that to arrive at a coherent solution.

> possible from OCS. We have the OCS agent deployed to some random test
machines, a representative of the types of machines we have. We're
having a problem importing some of our laptops. GLPI seems to think
that a laptop in its docking station and a laptop outside its docking
station are two different machines.

If OCS consider them as the same machine, GLPI may import it as the same
one. Duplicates management may work and you only need to make a sync.

automatically fill in inventory numbers, and some of its information for
monitors is incomplete. I have an Excel spreadsheet with the missing
information. Is there any way to import that Excel sheet into GLPI, say
by converting the spreadsheet to a CSV file and importing that? I just
don't want to type information in again if I don't have to.

You should write a simple plugin to import your own datas. But it will be
specific to our problems.

> 5. Thanks a lot for all your help, and as I said this is a great product
so far.

Great product but need to be improved again and again.

Regards

Julien
