I understand that on the app itself, I can select what label I want the email to be labeled as.
What I meant was, I am unable to filter messages from the app itself. For example [email protected] emailed me for the first time - it came into my inbox. When gmail is accessed from my computer, I can select the email, click more, click filter messages like these (eg. from [email protected]) and select the criteria I want. As a result, the next time [email protected] emails me, the filter is automatically applied to it. However, when accessed through the iPhone on the gmail app; [email protected] emails me, I can select the email, I can label it. But, I cannot click "filter messages like this" and select my criteria because that option is not available on gmail app. As a result, the next time [email protected] emails me, I will again have to label the email, or move it elsewhere manually. Instead of automatically - if I am able to filter the email.
