Aha! Seems to be OpenGL, *no* XVideo. That makes things a bit less
mysterious. Now I can remember getting a white screen with
OpenGL, but I can hardly reproduce that with my NVidia cards
(happens randomly maybe once in 3 months).

Do you have libxv-dev installed? If no, please do so and
reconfigure/recompile gmerlin. Also you could send the summary, which is
printed by the configure script at the end. Maybe there are other packages
missing as well.
