Ben, Ben, Ben.  You're being too harsh:

   That error code is clearly documented.  It's in right on the web under
Microsoft's knowledge base, article number 438C385DB9012A03856.  It even
mentions that NT service pack "6a rev. D" will prevent such errors in the
future and will also implement the "rmdir Wizard" which will prevent you
from accidently removing directories.

   Of course you need IE to read the article or download the service
pack...but Microsoft will happily ship the service pack to you for a paltry
$39.95 "shipping" fee; alternatively, if you religiously attend the
Microsoft TechNet revival meetings, you may be able to pick up the 56bit
version of the service pack for free!  :-)
