Note that if you "insert" with the middle click at the very beginning
of the location bar, so that all of the old contents is to the right
of the cursor, then control-K will kill the old stuff (because, like
in emacs, control-K deletes from the cursor to the end of the "line").
Bob Bell's suggestion of middle clicking on a blank main display area
is better (although I never remember it) if replacing the old url is
what you want (and it usually is).  Remembering that control-K (and a
few others) work like in emacs is useful if you're trying to piece
together a url from several parts.  Left clicking just after a slash,
typing control-K, <RETURN> is often useful for going "up" several
levels in one step.
