  I heard of someone using a VHS VCR for data storage once, but never a DAT
deck.  I imagine it is possible.  I also imagine I wouldn't want to try it.  
Backups are supposed to safe-guard your data.  You want them to be reliable,
and reliable == uninteresting.  You do not want a "neat hack".  :-)

  Attacks on BIND seem popular, too.  Apparently that "tsig bug" is a
script-kiddie's wet dream come true.  We've seen wholesale subnet probes for
it.
