you can try the classic : place /usr/local/lib into the /etc/ld.so.conf and then run
ldconfig......

[root@dwarf_1 riplog]# cat /etc/ld.so.conf
/usr/X11R6/lib
/usr/kerberos/lib
/usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib
/usr/local/lib
/usr/lib/qt-2.1.0/lib
/usr/lib/qt-1.45/lib
[root@dwarf_1 riplog]#

good luck :)
