Fine. GNHLUG is not one of them. :-)

People who post to a list and are not members of the list should not
expect to be part of the discussion.

Personally, I consider people who post and include "please CC me as I'm
not on the list" to be twits. If you want to participate, subscribe to the
darn list. If you don't want to participate, why are you posting in the
first place? It's a two-way street. Or it should be, anyway.

While I think Mail-Followup-To is a good idea, unfortunately, most MUAs do
not support it. Even if they did, some lists strip headers they do not
recognize. Some lists add Reply-To. Some *users* add Reply-To. Some lists
allow posts from non-members; others do not. There is nothing consistent.

The practical upshot is: It is never good netiquette to invoke a "reply"
command on a list and just blindly accept whatever your MUA comes up with.
Responsible listmembers will check, and if needed, edit, their headers.
That is the point I was trying to make when I kicked off this thread.

  :-)
