We should be checking anything on $PATH, do you mean index those files or show up as runnable when the name is typed, they're two different things. We do not index binaries on $PATH, you can tell files and folders to if you want, but we are not going to by default, that has been discussed to death. As for BASH aliases, not everyone uses BASH so we'd need a way to check for what shell someone is using, and then parse their *rc file. There's an open bug for this in Launchpad https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/do/+bug/258019. Patches welcome ;)
