Your .bashrc is only sourced when bash starts running in interactive
mode (ie: you open a terminal, or log in to a VT).  Anything you set
there will /not/ be seen by GNOME Do, because Do is started by
gnome-session which is started by GDM which isn't started from a bash
session.
