To modify something means to change it. A changed
shape is a modification.

The work is the same but markets are different. Hardcover-vs-paperpack
is a "specific field of endeavor"/scope-of-use limitation.

It is not. Field-of-endeavor limitations restrict the
purpose to which a work is put, not the form the work
takes. An example of such a limit would be to disallow
code from operating submarines and cheese graters.

Your grasp of normal English usage is alarmingly bad.
