It is false that permission to copy and distribute source
verbatim as part of a collection applies to a statically

Sez who?

The English language.

Please quote what you mean.

A statically linked executable contains binary versions
of libraries, modified by a linker program which changes
embedded values within the binaries in order to make them
refer to other portions of the whole executable. This is
therefore not a verbatim copy of the source of the code.
