OK - I guess I just meant to say that latex barely takes any time.
But that's on my PPro 180 Linux-box, with a local installation of
LaTeX, so others may have quite different experience.

I'll try to install the next (?) version. Or should I try the latest
- after all, I fetched the tarball, so I must have intended to
install it, or.....?

Hmm - surely it works in my little test example. I have to try it at
home, too.
You are aware that ly2dvi -k will save the tex file produced by
ly2dvi? There you can see what ly2dvi does - you won't find your
\'e anywhere, just a reference to a variable (if it's in the title,
subtitle, composer, .....).

I have to install lilypond to see exactly how this is done. I
suspect it's not ly2dvi, it may be titledefs.tex
Oh well, I just installed the source on the Indy, and found los-toros.
I see that the text is none of the variables that ly2dvi cares about,
so I have to compare the output from ly2dvi (the LaTeX file) to your
tex-file, to see the difference:
Hmm - the only real difference I see is that in los-toros-oboe-16.tex
"\input lilyponddefs" and "\input titledefs" is placed below
"\begin{document}".
Well - I have to test it at home.

OK - I'll change it.........:-)
BTW - I was not able to post to the mailing list yesterday evening.
