There are a couple of things I like about Gnumatic:

  - the "-matic" suffix means "powered by" or "under control of".
    Therefore "Gnumatic" means "powered by GNU".  Insofar as a company
    name has any meaning, that's a meaning I'm happy to have.

  - the name isn't specific to gnucash or even to financial software.
    We are a small company with one product now, but I hope that
    condition won't persist, and I would hate to be GnuMoney Inc and
    producing some completely non-financial kind of software.

I think the third definition of "pneumatic" that you quote is pretty
obscure.  I have never heard it used that way.
