Something like that is probably necessary. Gnucash looks to me like one of the crucial tools that will get Linux onto desktops everywhere. But that's going to be a lot harder if "normal" users find the interface confusing. I think it's more important for people to be able to handle their finances without getting confused or worrying about getting things wrong than having the technically correct terminology.
