I can confirm that on Windows 10 using GNC 4.10 exiting via 'X' regardless
you are prompted to save the file or not does not clear the lock file on my
kit. 

 

I do not have any unusual use of my kit so I am left to guess something with
GNC is causing it .

I just tested 4.10 on Windows 10 and all 3 buttons close without saving and

then on relaunching got the lock error. However, if I let my 3 second

auto-save timer expire it does save  changes as expected and I do not get

the lock error on relaunching.

 

It appears you have found a bug.
