You're correct - it is "simple" to do, and the question has been asked enough times before to have an entry in the FAQ: https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/ FAQ#Q:_I_just_got_a_new_computer._What_should_I_copy_over_from_my_old_one.3F Basically.... you need to copy your data file. (Just like you need to copy your word processor docs and spreadsheets and photos and other data files in your user's old folders.) Only you can know what your data file is called and where it is in your folder tree on the old computer.
