Liz,

The saved reports are in /home/liz/.local/share/gnucash/saved_reports2.8.
GNC_USERDATA_DIR is the location for the user preferences data and does not
refer to the users gnucash data files which are always stored in a location of
choice under the users's home directory , i.e. it is not specified by GnuCash
but by the users.

Part of the confusion for new users is that there is no one location in the
documentation which discusses the location of the book data files and the user
preference files. The most complete info is in the wiki, but new users are not
going to necessarily go there. It is further complicated by having had to shift
with upgrades to the various libraries used by GnuCash which forces change in
the locations between differnt GnuCash Versions. Add to that that the three
OS's all store such data differently.

Maybe the wiki contents are sufficiently mature to be put in the main
documentation.
