No split. I'll give an exact example:

I entered:
12/3/2023----Visa----Walmart
+-----------------Expense:Household......(blank).....$100

Switched back to reconcile window and saw the original (above) and also:
12/3/2023----Visa----Walmart
+-----------------Expense:Household-----(blank)-----
$68
