Could you tell us how you tried to "back up" the gnucash file?

We would recommend that you copy the *.gnucash file(s) and also the
related files. See https://www.wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Backup for more
information.

After that I suspect that Maf is right, and Win 7 is too old.
 
Continue with the transfer to Linux, it is different but liked by many
of us.
