Mervyn--

Which means the Congress, some members of whom, sit on intelligence committees are idiots. And that makes the electorate who put them into office idiots for having put them there. Mervyn, you can do better!.

Perhaps you have forgotten about the 17 UN Resolutions since 1991 demanding Saddam account for the stockpiles of WMDs that he had admitted having in the ceasefire agreement of 1991. UN Resolution 1441 was passed asking for the 17th time to account for his WMDs or suffer "serious consequences". The US continued to work through the UN right up until Villepin reneged and said France would veto any action against Iraq, no matter what! It has now come to light that France, Germany, Russia and China were looting Iraq under the oil-for-food scam run by Kofi Anan, and had no interest in pursuing "serious consequences". Hence the need for our intervention in concert with our coalition partners! Of course he had WMDs. He had used them against the Kurds and the Iranians in the past. Besides, he had sufficient time while the UN was dawdling to either squirrel them away or send them to Syria or Iran!

Chris,
You know as well as I do that Bush/Cheney essentially
fooled US lawmakers into getting approval for the war.

There are no weapons of mass destruction.
