seraphino antao ran the 100 yd and 220 yds in perth in 1962. His winning times in the finals of each of those events were 9.5 ( 10.4 equivalent in 100 metres ) and 21.1 ( 21 sec eq in 200 metres). He did do faster times in the heats ( 9.4 in the 100yd and 20.9 in the 220yds) antaos fastest legal times were as follows 100 yds ---- 9.3 sec in kampala ( 62 ) and nairobi ( 62) 100 metres --- 10.3 secs a number of times but notably in tel aviv ( 61) in Prague ( 62) in berlin ( 63) and Milan and lausanne ( 63/64) 200 meters - 20.4 sec in Kisumu ( sept 1964 -1 month before the Tokyo games ). sadly on the eve of the tokyo games ( 0ct 64 ) he was hit by the flu and could not perform at premium level interestly enough 20.4 secs in tokyo would have won him the silver in the 200 another little known fact is that in 1962/63 Seraphino antao was rated # 3 in the world in the 100 meters and # 2 in the 200 metres John Noronha Toronto
