WHEN: December 27, 2007 @ 4:30pm More info: http://lists.goanet.org/pipermail/goanet-goanet.org/2007-December/066098.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dear Prof. SM Borges, This is regarding what you said about the late Fr. Freddy J. da Costa. After my response of yesterday, I traced the newspaper advertisement I referred to, issued by an obviously anguished husband. I will reproduce the relevant parts BELOW the extract of your post. The contents are self-explanatory. We all -- and particularly a senior academician of your stature -- must be sure of facts before we make assertions. Please read the extract of that ad and you will know what I'm talking about, vis-a-vis what you said... > On Tue, 11 Dec 2007 Sebastian Borges wrote : >> >> When the late Fr. Freddy J. CHRIST’S TEACHINGS REFLECTED ON X’MAS DAY On 15/6/91, Mrs. Filomena Rose Mascarenhas, resident of Porvorim, Ararim, House No.446, Bardez, Goa, bore a male child whom her consort registered at Santa Cruz Village Panchayat under the name of Clive Jonathan D'Sa. lt was proved in the Court of Civil Judge, Senior Division, Mapusa, that this child born to FiIomena Rose Mascarenhas was illegitimate, conceived by adultery, and my prayer to the Court for divorce (Civil Suit No.148/91/A) was granted. Based on this Decree I approached the Directorate of Statistics, Planning and Evaluation to strike off my name as father and my surname from the child's name registered in the Birth Certificate. My request has been complied with and a new Birth Certificate has been issued, deleting my name as the father of the child. Further, the public is informed that when the undersigned, aggrieved due to being cuckolded by his wife being seduced to the act by a Catholic Priest, approached the Patriarchal Tribunal of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman with a prayer to grant him divorce, attaching thereto the above Decree of the Court, he received a reply stating: "Your petition requesting to declare null and void your marriage to Philomena Rose Mascarenhas on ground of adultery from her part cannot be admitted since adultery is not a ground for the declaration of nullity of a marriage as per Canon Law." The unity of my family, our individual lives and the future of my young daughter and our bright future already bleaked out by the meddling of a Catholic Priest, the Rt. Rev. F.J.C., who not only lured my wife into seduction but aIso relieved her of nearly Rs.3 Lakhs from my own remittances from the Gulf to her was further aggravated by the Bishop by not allowing us a chance for re-marrying by not granting divorce. The Bishop thus deigns me to live with and support an adulterous woman and bring up illegitimate children produced by his Priests. The Ten Commandments, the principal tenet of the Catholic religion in No.VI states "Thou shalt not commit adultery." Further the Gospel of Jesus Christ, on which the Christian Faith is based and from which it stems, as narrated by Matthew in 5:32, Quote: "...I say to you that everyone divorcing his wife except on account of fornification, makes her a subject for adultery." Jesus thus made it more than evident that fornication is a valid ground for divorcing one's wife. Perhaps the Gospel can be interpreted by Church Authorities in Goa to shield the putrid acts of their priests even by misquoting the Canons of the Catholic Church. Antonio Xavier S.
