Hi Eric, Oyster mushrooms can be cultivated on paddy straw or for that matter on various other media like wheat straw, bagasse, etc. They are different in looks from the button mushrooms as they resemble the bracket mushrooms.
I think it is the button mushrooms that need the dung for their cultivation.
