Frederick: >Tony, Please define "migrant". As I understand it, in today's parlance, 'migrant' is a generic term which implies someone who has moved into Goa post liberation/ invasion for purposes of work or settlement. It broadly covers those from other states of India particularly those engaged in porterage, construction, carpentry and other occupations.
If you have a different conception, please be good enough to share it. Per se, I have nothing against migrants. What I am against is the rampant rape of the age old Goan institutions like the comunidades, the khazans, the mangroves, the peaceful life that we once lived, the comunal harmony, even in post liberation Goa till the advent of the full fledged 'professional' politicians who created vote banks by importing non-Goans. The question of ethnicity becomes aggravated in Goa because of its small size, unique cultural identity and lifestyle and the sudden integration with mainland lndia after a long sheltered colonial existence -- \\\ = \\-00 Tony de Sa C u tonyd...@gmail.com \ ~/ M : +91 9975 162 897 --|><| Ph. : +91 832 2470 148 = / | ^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v
