Couldn't we start by all of us just refusing to pay? Or better still, pretending to play along and attempting to get those who expect it trapped with the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Central Bureau of Investigation or other authorities? Not only will the 'marked notes' come for free, but you would also become a small local hero!
Otherwise, we would simply get dismissed by the talk-is-cheap lobby. Which wouldn't be entirely untrue. For me too! Criticising The Other (the politician/babu in this case) is easy. After all it absolves us of the need to take any action ourselves. FN PS: In 2010, we could take on the task of making this a reality. The first step would be sharing information on (i) who are the anti-corruption authorities (ii) how much they can be trusted (iii) how does one get them to stir into action (iv) what are the experiences, if any, of those who have tried this. 2009/12/25 ignatius fernandes <iggy.fernan...@hotmail.co.uk> > > > I have jus paid ten thousand ruppes as a bribe to get an occupancy on a > small flat in Margao.
