Sign the Petition requesting The Honble Minister of State for Environment
and Forests (I/C) to maintain the moratorium on issuing further
environmental clearances for mining activities in Goa

The authors whose posts are appended below do not seem to realize that members
of a public forum deserve to know the truth, from independent and impartial
sources, irrespective of whether an activism-oriented inflammatory letter
circulated in a public forum is from a Professor Hilda Raja or a Justice
Saldanha.

We have to know if the incident as described in the widely publicized activist
news report is true, and all the circumstances surrounding it. If extremist
Hindu groups are desecrating the dead in an organized manner with government
complicity then there is cause for outrage, and we have to do something about
it.

On the other hand, if it is a rumor or an isolated incident that has been
exaggerated, embellished or misreported, then we have to be concerned for the
opposite reason because I see that it has been disseminated all over the world
by religious news agencies and religio-political websites.

>From the zeal of one of the authors below, eager to deride someone who is
>skeptical about activist reports about politicized incidents, it appears that
>he already believes he knows the truth in this case, and he offers advice to
>others as to how to ascertain the truth about this incident. I would therefore
>like to ask him the following questions:

1. Did he follow his own advice before posting this activist news item on
Goanet?

2. Has he written to the authorities in question and obtained a truthful answer
from them?

3. How does he know that all the facts about the incident in question are true?

The other author below does not seem to know the difference between a
mainstream national news media website and an activist religio-political
website, and also the fact that I am talking about finding out the truth about
the specific funeral incident reported in this thread.

Cheers,

Santosh
