As for Christians, the Bible is unambiguous: According to the book of Leviticus, “And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you”. “Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch, they are unclean to you.” [Leviticus 11:7-8] Pork is also prohibited in the Bible in the book of Deuteronomy: “And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass.” [Deuteronomy 14:8] Mervyn1349Lobo >>>
RESPONSE: With the price of onions and other vegetables sky-rocketing in India, many vegetarians have turned non-vegetarians. Blame it on Global warming. Secondly, as a medical doctor I would advise the writer to be aware that there are also vegetables rich in saturated fats. Please do not condemn the poor piggy for your ignorance of cholesterols. As far as your books of Deuteronomy and Leviticus is concerned, purportedly written by Moses, I guess the writer is still waiting for the Messiah to take him to the promised Land. We as Catholics follow the Bible where the teachings of our Messiah who already came to this Earth 20 centuries back, are written. Dr. Ferdinando dos Reis Falcão.
