Tuje shobdhachi yaad korpak, hanv khala kator-ani-gomm-lai (adhikrut Micro$oft transilashun) kortaum: http://www.mail-archive.com/goanet@lists.goanet.org/msg83156.html It looks like the fair point that Selma has tried to make, Admin Noronha has chosen to misunderstand. The point is not that Goans should not speak English in a Konknni accent or use transliterated Konknni expressions when they are speaking English as a second language. The point is two-fold: 1. When Goans learn English they ought to learn it properly in terms of its grammar and vocabulary. They ought to have teachers that teach it properly. 2. If they decide to use it as their primary language at home, in school and at work, and shun their native Konknni or Portuguese or whatever, then they ought to learn to speak it properly, or at the very least make certain that their kids do so. It is absolutely true that if you do not know how to express yourself at a minimum level of proficiency in what you yourself regard as your primary language of expression, then you are unlikely to be able to think complex thoughts, and indeed, learn and discuss anything of substance.
