To shutdown try to just type 'off' in the terminal as root or super-user :)
When you do 'Compile xfe', it will first look in your system for the required program dependencies (like Fox and GLU), and will also ask to compile them if they are missing. It's a very thoughtfull compiler :) -- Cumprimentos, D.er Hugo Barrocas
