I'm a long time Java and Netbeans programmer new to Python also. I run my app engine app in Netbeans using the new "early access" Python plug-in. However, whenever fire it up under the debugger it locks up my whole machine. So I debug the app in Eclipse. Back and forth because so far I don't like Eclipse. Anyway, that's my experience.
