+1 Alex. I think the email that just came through from the app team should have been posted to the home page and sent far earlier. Downtime and issues will always occur what separates one system from another is how they are handled and communicated.

We did post to the Status Site (http://code.google.com/status/appengine) that we had an ongoing issue.
