Issue 153 is marked as having 'Low' priority. As there are a number of older issues that have 'Medium' priority, so I wouldn't be holding my breath to see this issue fixed.
I would think that your software could work around this by making a change is some other field so that the changes would be propagated to other clients. If you are concerned about detecting changes made by other clients, you could poll the upcoming events for the next day or week to determine the reminder times.
