I have no problem accessing photos on my external sata 2T drive.

I do not understand this statement.  Why do you say this?  Do you find
this condition from personal experience or ?  Picasa 3.8 via wine on my
openSUSE 11.2 x86_64 box is a polished and pleasant to work with as most
any other app!
