Because of the CachingActivityMapper and FilteredActivityMapper (found in CachingHorizontalMasterActivityMapper), the MailListActivity isn't "restarted" between place changes between MailDetailPlace-s (and MailListPlace-s). As it doesn't listen to PlaceChangeEvent, its not even aware of the navigation. It should then listen to PlaceChangeEvent-s and adjust the selection accordingly.
