We have local instances of R running on our computers and can SSH tunnel
to the server the way we do with SAS and CDM, however, memory may be a
concern since R usually processes everything in memory and these are
desktop computers (though there are packages in R for using large data
sets on the disk instead of in memory). So long as the script has a
section at the top with requires(package) or library(package) to let us
know what packages need to be installed we should be able to update our R
instances.
