Thanks for the responses, fellows,
I am thinking of something more elaborate, with syntax
colouring, and live preview, and lots of options for
performing advanced operations that would allow you to do
things that you would normally need to do in tex, but
without having to do or know any tex coding (and without
having to constantly look up how to do that).
The online score editors are very simple, but they don't do
anything for your tex file - you can't for example, change
the staff color to red, or modify the size of the initials.
Also, another thing I've noticed is that the online editors
don't seem to output exactly what gregorio outputs - some
things work in the online editors that don't work in
gregorio. Thus, you don't get an exact view of what
gregorio will create with your gabc code.
Here are what I think it ought to have:
* Live display (like the online score editors - except
those don't use gregorio, I think; they use javascript,
so the output is not equal to what gregorio produces)
* Lots of buttons to help you choose what you want, kind
of like Gregoire uses. These should help you do the more
complicated procedures, such as compressing a staff and
adding psalms and lines of text that you would normally
have to add in a tex file.
* Options for working with the tex files behind the scenes
* Switch between multiple main-lualatex.tex templates,
like NotatioAntiqua
* Produce not only pdf files, but also graphic files, like
.png and .jpg or .gif
* Error reporting
* Live Syntax Highlighting for the code
* Way to store your music pieces in some sort of tree
* Multiplatform
God bless!

Aside from Mr. Gippner's Notatio Antiqua

else have any other gregorio GUI in the process of
production? There was mention of one on the gregorio
webpage - but that notice was dated several years ago.

You might be aware of Grégoire,
http://gregoire.tele.free.fr <http://gregoire.tele.free.fr/>
I used it for some time, but apparently the evolution of
it stopped years ago, so it does not work very well any
more on modern machines. It's a pity.
