Dear Father,

I agree with Mr. Maire : though it isn't absolutely necessary, for an
average choir to sing well, to have old neumatic notation, it is
something really interesting for those who want to go further.

This is a good formulation!

I'd think something like that, too : creating a new file format (or two
? see further), "nabc" or other, that would include the ancient
notation, and that could be combined with gabc to produce scores.

Ok, this is the most simple way I think!

Those notations are similar, but I think there are (at least in some
cases) enough differences to think about having two files for the same
chant : one for St Gall, the other for Laon.

Ok.

I'd be, as soon as I'm able to !

Great, thank you very much!

I'd have time only in the beginning of August, then in September (more
or less).

Ok.

For now, I don't think so. With documentation and a bit of time, I could
try, at least contributing. I already modified existing caracters in
fontforge, worked a little with inkscape, but I didn't ever design a
font from scratch.

In fact it's not that difficult to create a font from scratch, it's much more difficult to create a beautiful font from scratch though, and I have to say I have no talent for this...

I know the Meinrad Abbey has some fonts with ancient neumes, but they do not distribute them. I someone in contact with them?

Thank you,
--
Elie
